Sets & Smashes

Crafting might be my love language. Well, crafting and cookies (although cake will do too). 

When I started cake smash photography, I lived in Okinawa, Japan– where it’s always a little too hot and my apartment was waaay too small for a full studio. That meant that I created my cake smash sets outside in open fields, beaches, and once even on a surf board <– (here’s a throwback to 2017!).

Back then, if we wanted a “theme”- I had to create! Partly because most backdrop companies didn’t ship to me, and partly because I didn’t have anywhere to mount one, even if they did! 

Now, years and years later, my studio has grown (as has my backdrop collection!) but I still can’t let go of all the scissors and glue. Each of my custom sets takes anywhere from 1-3 audible books to create (is it weird that I would rather calculate my time in books listened to, than actual hours?) My goal with every cake smash session is to handcraft a truly one-of-a-kind 3D immersive experience for your little one. I want it to feel as special and unique as your child. 

So if you want to go beyond the backdrop for a Cake Smash or Custom Set, you’ve come to the right place. You name the theme, and I will get to work creating the set of your dreams. And if you need me in the meantime, I’ll probably be on the hunt for unique props or down in the craft room mounting cricut creations on styrene, hot gluing teacups together, stringing flowers, sewing teepees, and inhaling rubber cement.
